Farming Improvements
  1. Seed Drill ->deposits seeds in a row instead of throwing them onto the soil
    • plants and crops survived longer
    • even rows of crops
    • not wasting seed -> saves money

  1. Experiment With Soil
    • fertilizers develop -> animal feces
    • mixing the soils improved the crops
    • began to grow turnips to replenish the soil

  2. Enclosure -> take small pieces of land and combine it into one mass land
    • cost efficient because they need less workers
    • higher yields
    • small famers could not compete with the enclosure fields
    • small farmers had to move to the city in search of work because they couldn't compete with the enclosure fields. That contributed to the onset of the Industrial Revolution
  • Improvements in farming -> increased food production -> population increased

  • Coal was the best because you could burn it and it could be used to create steam. Coal powered most of the factories.
  • A more reliable form of iron was created. Iron was important because they could create bridges, machines, and railroad tracks.
